25 May. Warung Chiringuito, Seminyak

There ya go, that's what it looks like.
Favorite please for a beer and a piece of grilled fish.
Warung Chiringuito, Seminyak,  right on the beach.

(Location of Warung Chiringuito on Maps)

There's the menu.
Sensational prawns for about six bucks.

Sigh, our last meal, last drinks, at this delightful little warung on the beach.
They do exceptionally tasty grilled tiger prawns and mahi tuna... basted in lime, garlic and spices. Wash that down with fresh sweet pineapple juice. Heaven.

25 May. Last day at Villa Coco. Seminyak, Bali

Farewell to Villa Coco.

24 May. Temple, large and small. Seminyak, Bali

This is a bit more elaborate. I haven't seen this before - lions and tigers and bears, oh my.

Typical small roadside temple. Seminyak.

24 May. Up on the roof of Geneva Handicrafts. Old pots, old Buddha Statues, old Rocking Horses.

This is up on the roof of Geneva, a wasteland of old stock, sitting among some old tired huge cafe setting. Weird.
Pizza ovens, stone benches, spiral staircases, bars, all overgrown with weeds.

(Geneva on Maps)

There's all the Buddha heads, sitting on big stone benches that must have been part of the rooftop cafe.

Old rotting rocking-horses, sitting by a spiral staircase leading up to some funky but now deserted loft.

There's Laura checking out the old skylights and light fixtures.
Someone must have spent a lot of money to set this building up.
Now it's just a cheap warehouse.
Shame really.

24 May. Geneva Handicrafts, Jalan Raya Kerobokan. Seminyak, Bali

Today's destination is Geneva Handicrafts up on Jalan Raya Kerobokan.
It turns out to be a massive four story high warehouse.
This is the view from the roof.
It must have had a massive European cafe up on the top floor - now derelict and full of old Budha statues.

(Geneva on Maps)

This is the view from the roof of Geneva.
It's the highest building around.

Just look at all that cheap junk.
Four floors of it.
Bought a few trinkets - little turtles with wobble heads. :-)

24 May. Temple in Seminyak

Every house has a temple, and every temple is nicely made and well kept.

24 May. Coffee at Gazebo Beach Hotel. Stroll along Sanur Beach. Time for a massage.

We've only walked a short distance since lunch, but it's time for coffee.
This place looks laid back. Gazebo Beach Hotel.

Well that was a pleasant day, strolling along the sea front.

Had a stiff neck from all this going in and out of air conditioning.
Tried out the massage at this little place around the corner.
It's good. Cheap too. 1 hour for 60,000 Rupiah (about $8).

23 May. Sanur for lunch. Pizza at Puri Santrian Hotel.

Just for a change we went to Sanur for lunch and a stroll.
It's quieter here.

22 May. Lunch on the beach

Ahhh, lazy morning by the pool, then a walk to the ATM for more cashola, then along the beach to this place.
Margeritas and nasi goreng and prawns for lunch.

21 May. Supper at Warung Murah, Seminyak

Ah, nasi campur at Warung Murah again.
Oh, and a beer of course.

(Warung Murah on Maps)

21 May. Shopping in Kuta. Kopi pot. Fish treatment. Pizza in Kuta

Shopping in Kuta today. Fake watches, cold beer, pizza, noise, car horns etc

Howdy. I'm waiting for my pizza. Yum. They had a guy handing out samples on the street. It was pretty good pizza.

We did the fish treatment.
These are little catfish thingies that eat dead skin cells.
I feel like I've had a thousand mossie bites. I feel cleansed... I think.

Time for a break from shopping.
I need a coffee and an orange juice.
This place looks nice, Kopi Pot.

20 May. Rest day. Cafe Zanzibar, Seminyak.

Rest day today.
No shopping, no sightseeing, just sitting by the sea with a beer at Cafe Zanzibar.

19 May. Seafood dinner at Jimbaran at Sharkeys.

We went to Jimbaran for a big seafood dinner.
We dropped in at Sharkeys and sat out on the beach.
We made right pigs of ourselves - prawns, lobster, calamari and fish, all on the charcoal grill, with tomato and chilli.

(Kafe Sharkeys, Jimbaran on Maps)

The sun's going down, as is the first beer.
Our food should be here soon.

And there it is.
Prawns, lobster and fish from the grill.

19 May. Start of this day. Best banana pancake in Bali for brunch at Warung Ocha

Out shopping again today.
Started this day with a stroll along the beach.
It's Kuningan festival, so the streets are a bit quieter today.

Refueling for shopping at Warung Ocha.
I order a banana pancake and am glad I did.
I reckon it's the best I've had in Bali so far. Yum.
Terus lagi... Onwards.

19 May. Giants and rooftop temples.

The villagers are all busy making these thingies, ogoh-ogoh they are called, to chase evil spirits away.
They will parade them through the streets to chase away demons.

Here's another pic of the typical rooftop temples.

These little temples are on every corner and every roof.
There is a big festival on at the moment, so they are all decorated and renewed,

18 May. Elephant Safari Park today, north of Ubud

We went to the Elephant Safari Park today, north of Ubud.

Jalan Elephant Park Taro, Taro Village, Tegallalang, Ubud Bali 80561, Indonesia

See our videos on my YouTube channel Si The DogBlogger on YouTube from a later trip when the babies were about 3 years old.

This is a wonderful place and well worth a visit.
There are three gorgeous baby elephants there, playing and pushing and having a great time. We could pat them and feed them and play with them. Good fun.
Definitely have to come back here.

Hello you.

Here's another pic of playing with the babies.
It's hilarious watching them fighting for attention and food, trunks waving frantically, and much shoving with backsides.

Gorgeous little babies. 1 year old. Scratch scratch.

This was fun, a ride around the park by elephant.

I't good fun feeding the elephants.
They're quick to spit back anything that's not sweet and tasty.

17 May. Lunch in Legian. Guningan and Kuningan festival. Typical Bali dog.

It's Guningan and Kuningan festival time.
This happens twice per Hindu year.
There's lots of festivals, prayers, offerings etc.
It's a time for renewal and giving back to nature.

Phew. Need a break from shopping.
Found Sheppy's Bar for lunch. We have a lovely nasi campur and a Bir Bintang, of course.
(Sheppy's Bar on Maps)

Here's the typical street urchin, looking for scraps.
Of course we save our leftover bits for these poor creatures. It's good karma.

16 May. Pura Tanah Lot

We hired a taxi this morning for a trip to Pura Tanah Lot.
This is an important temple down by the sea.
The sands here are very black volcanic sands.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanah_Lot
(Tanah Lot on Maps)

This is a very photogenic place.
It's also a very sacred temple - no whities allowed.
It is only possible to walk across to the temple at low water.

Me.
